The Year in Review [Dec. 31st, 2005|06:02 pm]
[Current Mood | It's freakin' cold here...]
[Current Music |TV - Naruto]

The year in review.  Let's see, this is the year that I have finished working with fanfiction at the conclusion of Deconstruction.  I have finished my first real novel and currently trying to get representation is hard.  I've already been rejected, but that's one down many more to go.  Currently, I have set aside that work as I start work on my new story that I have started.  The next work that I have is an ambitious work that will be three books.  I have just started and already have written pages of notes and even made a family tree.  I'm also reading Asian Mythology.

For my next work, I will go away from adult mainstream and go to young adult fantasy.  It happens to be my favorite genre and age group actually.  My style is more adapted for that age group and the fantasy I came up with already is developing into an intricate plot.  It will include Asian influences drawing from mythology, design, and overall culture.  I am currently looking at different types of martial arts and dance as well as music.  These are the sources I will be drawing from to create the worlds that I'm attempting to convey on the page.  The plot will include magic, politics, and of course teenagers on the brink of discovering who they are and who they wanted to be.  The name I came up with I couldn't just forget for my main character.

As I continue to write, despite such obstacles like work and rejections, I feel that I'm really meant to be a writer more than anything else.  I keep writing and writing while I'm work.  I'm an optimist and even if I never land a book contract, I would still write no matter what.  But it still would be nice to be paid for it.  ^_^

Long Time No See [Nov. 26th, 2005|12:43 pm]
[Current Mood | busy]

I guess I haven't updated in ages for a couple of reasons.  One, I am working at my full time job and trying to keep my sanity at the same time.  Two, I was working on my own original work and I just completed the first draft about two weeks ago.  I had the whole thing printed out at Kinko's for around $34.00.   I am now in the process of looking for an agent and trying to get my book published which will take some more time.

My novel is pretty damn long.  It's over 150,000 words and has 364 pages single spaced with only double spacing between paragraphs and one ince margins all around.  Whew.  It's full of humor, action, and a touch of romance.  After going over the professional writer's site, I realized that the thing might be too long, so the editing process is going to start and I have to start taking it apart.  I have to also write some synopsis and do an outline, depending on the agents I approach.  I have an inqury letter already typed up and ready to send.  I also got self-sealing envelopes for my SASE and a roll of a hundred stamps.  I just need to get some manila envelopes and a phone card so that I can call the different agencies before sending out my inquries.

The inital plan of attack is to approach thirty because that's how many address labels I can make at a time, which incidentally I have to make at work.  That means that I will use up around sixty stamps to send out my inquires.  I will attempt to approach some major publishing houses, but that's not going to be easy.  Most publishing houses won't even look at a proposal from an individual.  That's where an agent comes in.

Thus far, the costs are mounting as well.  Stamps, envelopes, printing, writer's guides, and some other expenses I can't recall, are really starting to add up.  It's almost like starting my own business.  I consider these investments.  Alas, I still get no support from my family in anything that involves art.   They give me no moral support, which doesn't cost them a damn thing in a monetary sense.  To them, art and literature don't really count.  It's more than just a little frustrating to the starting writer or artist.  Damn the status quo.

A Mixed Bag [Jul. 17th, 2005|12:05 pm]
[Current Mood | contemplative]
[Current Music |Enigma - Beyond the Invisible]

That's how I feel about the new book.  It's a certain amount of mixed feelings.  It's good.  But there are parts of it that just bothered me.  I should probably put a cut.

The Last Chapter is Up... [Jul. 14th, 2005|08:32 pm]
[Current Mood | chipper]
[Current Music |TV]

I decided to put up the final chapter for Deconstruction.  Besides later on tomorrow, I might not be able to do it at work and I wanted to be sure that it was up before midnight tomorrow for obvious reasons.  I don't know if I'll be doing another story anytime soon.  More later.

Can you believe all the excitement? [Jul. 14th, 2005|07:39 pm]
[Current Mood | blah]
[Current Music |TV - Design on a Dime]

There's so many people who are hyped up for the sixth Harry Potter book and I'm trying not to get sucked in.  But I've already made plans Saturday to sit there and wait for the UPS guy to drop my book off so that I can start reading it as soon as it comes.  I won't be attending any midnight releases because I'm getting the book for cheaper than most people.  I'm going my book has been shipped already and should be on the way.  It was shipped on the 7th of July, giving it more than enough time to get here on Saturday.

Anyway, the film crew from last week has taken over my street again.  This time they've taken up more of the street.  Practically the whole block.  If I had a car, I would have been pissed off because they're not allowing people to park at the sidewalk.  Actually, they're blocking other things as well.  No one actually tells us when they're going to do it because it's really up to the city.  The city council doesn't live in this neighborhood.  What a wonderful city I live in.

Update - Chapter 16 [Jul. 11th, 2005|08:18 am]
[Current Mood | blah]

As promised, barring no health complications, I have updated Deconstruction.  As anyone can tell it's the second to last chapter of the story.  On Friday, the last chapter will come up.  Now, I don't know what anyone else has planned for Saturday, but I already have plans of camping out and waiting for my book to arrive so that I may tear into the packaging and start reading.

Anyway, I'll have to go to work soon and there's a whole truck load of work waiting for me.  Physically, I'll try to take it as easy as possible.  If you don't have your health, you don't have anything.

So, I lied... [Jul. 9th, 2005|10:34 am]
[Current Mood | sore]
[Current Music |TV]

I wasn't feeling too well yesterday.  In fact, I had to call in sick at work for real.  So, there was no update yesterday as planned.  It will be bumped to Monday or Tuesday.  I don't know much longer I can keep this up.  I'm still sort of sick, but I have to go out to be with my friend today as her family goes and has a party.  I hope that I can hold down the food.  I had breakfast and it's still down, which is I consider a good thing.

So, next week the last chapters for Deconstruction will go up.  The last chapter is due up on July 15 just before the book is due out.

Deconstruction Chapter 15 [Jul. 5th, 2005|07:17 pm]
[Current Mood | tired]
[Current Music |TV - Jeopardy]

I have updated with a new chapter and the next chapter will be posted later this week.  It's a great cliffy on this one.  I like how it ends.  Anyway, that's really all I have to report.  Chances once the story is finish this journal will be on indefinite hiatus because this is strictly a HP fandom journal this point.  I might post something when the next book comes out, but I don't see myself doing anything for a while.

The Last Chapters [Jul. 2nd, 2005|01:38 pm]
[Current Mood | okay]

The last few chapters have already been edited and uploaded into the document manager of fanfiction.net.  They are ready for posting just as soon as the time is write.  The last chapter will be up on July 15th.  I wouldn't mind stopping here with the fanfiction.  The point is that I know that I want to be a writer.  I have five pieces of original works to my name.  I am currently writing a long term story that's not going to be posted online.  I think that I might compile some of my original works into ebook form so that people can read and enjoy them.

I have a long weekend ahead of me.  I would like to wish Happy 4th of July to all the Americans out there and for anyone who wants to take the day off on Monday.  ^_~  I'm off to Vegas, but the next post should be Wednesday.

Deconstruction - Chapter 13 [Jun. 27th, 2005|08:15 am]
[Current Mood | awake]
[Current Music |The Calling - For You]

Chapter Thirteen is up for Deconstruction.  And since it is nearly July, my time does pass fast, I have decided to do the double weekly posting until the story is done.  I intend the last posting to be on the Friday before the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.  That's all I have to say for now.  I have to go to work.

Deconstruction Chapter 12 [Jun. 20th, 2005|07:39 pm]
[Current Mood | my achy feet]
[Current Music |TV]

Chapter 12 is up, but I had to add the last paragraph.  It was cut off for some odd reason, and the next chapter wouldn't make any sense without it.  So, if it looks rushed at the end...that's because it is.  T_T  I had to go to work, so I didn't have any time to finish up.

On the job front, I've gone international.  I'm now trying to collect money from shoots all over the world.  Today's latest thing was to send a fax to Australia to get money from a production.  It just irritates me that they have to take the freakin' accounting department with them when they go on shoots as if they couldn't do things another way.  No wonder it costs so much money to film something.  As anyone could probably tell, I really don't care anymore about the Hollywood crap.  Once you're in the trenches, you tend not to care.  They also have a zillion excuses as to why they haven't paid you.  They pay eventually, but it's still a pain in the ass....

I'm definitely looking into this whole writing thing as a career.  It's still up in the air and it takes forever to write a story.  I write novel length works, so it's sort of hard to figure out when I'll be done with any given work.  Thus far, my new story is unlike anything that I've ever written before.

Deconstruction - Chapter 11 [Jun. 15th, 2005|07:23 pm]
[Current Mood | exhausted]
[Current Music |TV]

I forgot to say that I've updated the story.  It's pretty good if I do say so myself.  The next chapter will reveal even more.  I'm glad that people are enjoying the mysteries in the story so much.  I also went back and did some mild editing because the "*" that I use are taken out when I uploaded it.  I completely forgot about that and that's why the scene changes are hard to follow in that chapter.

People are still wondering if I'll do another story.  I don't know yet.  I am working on a new story about going off to the working world and um...thievery.  I don't plan on posting the story online.  I actually plan on working on it and seeing if I can get it off to a publisher or something.  It depends on how it turns out, but if it doesn't turn out that good...then I'll post it online.

Deconstruction Chapter Ten [Jun. 6th, 2005|06:55 pm]
[Current Mood | sore]
[Current Music |TV]

The tenth chapter is now up and running.  Some might wonder why Oliver just doesn't force Percy's doctor, Dr. Shah to give him the information that he wants, but it's a matter of trust. The point is that Percy trusted his doctor and Oliver doesn't want to force the doctor to give away the secrets that way.  Besides, Dr. Shah also knows about the wizarding world, but she's bound by law to keep it a secret.  That and she wouldn't look very good if she went around saying that the wizarding world is real.  She would probably look a little crazy.  ^_^

I'm still busy with work, and I'm working on other original work.  It doesn't look like I'm going to be doing another fanfic any time soon.  Like I keep saying, it all depends on the next book.  We'll all have to wait and see.

Theories and Ideas [Jun. 1st, 2005|06:38 pm]
[Current Mood | creative]
[Current Music |TV]

I like the reviews and their ideas.  It seems the big theory is that Dr. McCoy is using Polyjuice Potion and is really Ali's the one impersonating Dr. McCoy.  Hmm...I won't say if they're right or wrong either way.  The question of why Percy is in the Muggle hospital is still unanswered.  That's because a significant original character hasn't been introduced yet.  Her role is small, but she's important to the story.  What I like about this story is that a lot of of the intrigue is subtle and people don't know what's going on.  The plot is one of the best that I've ever come up with.

I'm planning on doing double updates come July.  June's already here and the deadline's getting closer and closer as a result.  The story has a bit of a startling conclusion and things aren't what they seem.

No Updates... [May. 31st, 2005|07:40 pm]
[Current Mood | tired]
[Current Music |TV]

Chapter Nine of Deconstruction is ready to go up, but Fanfiction.net is having problems, so I can't update just yet.  The chapter was edited yesterday afternoon, too.  If it doesn't let me update this week, then two chapters will go up next week since the July 16th deadline is approaching.  It's the chapter that answers some of the bigger questions that people have been asking.  I mean it's fairly obvious that the scars on Percy's wrist are self-inflicted, but Oliver's involvement hasn't been seen yet.  Oliver was meant to be a key player in the story from the beginning.

Anyway, it will go up just as soon as ff.net lets me put it up.  I don't really have another story planned yet thus far, but it depends on what I see in the sixth book.  Either way, I'm too busy with real life to think of anything else other than my own original works.

Nothing really to update.... [May. 28th, 2005|12:32 am]
[Current Mood | sleepy]
[Current Music |TV]

I don't have a new chapter up yet.  In fact, I haven't even edited it yet.  Yeah!  Go me.  This weekend is Memorial Day for those who live in the US, so I have a three day weekend.  Thank goodness.  I was starting to get really frustrated with some of these studio people.  I swear if I have to be asked the question, "Which production/film/show are you talking about?" one more time, I am going to scream.  It's up to them to tell me.  How I would I know?  In the end, I know the names of two pilots and a new series coming out this fall and details on a movie that is coming out next year.  The latter is a really big movie, too.  Either way, I'm frustrated with these people for their inability to organize themselves better and making my job harder by having to call them and be ask a question that I can't answer.  I have a feeling I'll know the crop of new shows that are coming out next year before the summer is out and it hasn't even started yet.  I'm not at liberty to devulge the names and titles of the companies and their productions anyway.  I never thought I'd be working in this industry.

I've sort of hit a block on my own original works anyway.  It's almost done, yet I've hit that block.  I haven't been very good at updating this week.  I come home from work tired from all the stuff at work.  Mostly people asking questions that I can't really answer.  I also came up with an idea for a story that most college grads could relate to, especially the ones who are in so much debt that it might as well be a million bucks.  I looked at my finances today after paying off my credit card and my two loans and my money's gone down quite a bit.  I'll be lucky to save any money at all.  I know that I should pay above the minimum with the loans.  God, it sucks being a grown up.

Deconstruction Chapter Eight [May. 23rd, 2005|08:20 am]
[Current Mood | warm]

I've updated the latest chapter and on time, too.  I'm good.  This chapter will change the direction of the story as it has been written thus far.  It is a very important turning point in the story as I know that most people are wondering what Molly's reaction is going to be.  It's not going to end as one expect for the chapter.  The groups of people are restructing and getting ready for towards the end.

I also saw [info]firewhiskey's entry in regards to what Fanfiction.net did to her fics and it's horrible.  There should have been more warning and they took out all of her stories because of song lyrics in them.  I guess it's a matter of the law and fanfiction.net doesn't want to get into trouble for posting song lyrics without getting the rights to do so.  I understand part of the artists concern, but at the same time with all of their concern it doesn't stop people from taking their music online.  It's just stupid.  And sad.

Deconstruction Chapter Seven [May. 19th, 2005|06:48 pm]
[Current Mood | tired]
[Current Music |TV]

The chapter's been up since Tuesday, but I forgot to announce it here.  My bad.  Anyway, I like how people are wondering how Molly's going to react to the news that Percy's actually been missing for a while and that Tonks has been sent to investigate.  Some people are truly hooked on the story.  I don't really answer the questions because the answers come eventually.  I also built the story in such a way that there are smaller mysteries at work that most people won't realize is really there until the end.

I'm tired from work for the most part so that's why I forget to update thigns.  It's easier when I just due the editing during the weekend, but I forget to put up the chapter and announce it.  People should really just do the story alert.

Deconstruction Chapter Six [May. 10th, 2005|07:15 pm]
[Current Mood | tired]
[Current Music |Missy Higgins - All for Believing]

I'm loving some of the questions that are coming up regarding Deconstruction.  Most people are wondering why or how Percy ended up where he ended up.  It will be slowly revealed.  This particular chapter is important because it covers what happened to Penelope.  After re-reading the story, I began to realize how much I downplayed how much she really meant to Percy, but I suppose it can be left as implied.  There's a lot of things that is going on.  And I doubt anyone will notice what I had planned for one of the characters until the very end of the story.

At work, things are improving a bit.  I consider this a paying dues phase.  Everyone has to pay dues to get to what they want.  Realistically, I need a job to pay off school loans.  I don't understand why the universities in the US have to charge so much for their education.  It's big business here.  The state collects so much money for each college and university.  I don't like my own university because of all the crap that it put me through.  I can't wait to get my new ring to replace the class ring that I'm wearing.  I only keep it on because I got used to having something on my finger.  I hope that I can pay off enough of my stuff so that I can move on to more fun stuff like getting my own apartment and car.  I'm one those return kids who come back after school because we can't afford to live on our own.  It's a common epidemic in most industrialized nations.  I'm not proud of it either.  School pushes most young adults into poverty.

I'll update again next week.  Chapter Seven will be up next.  I don't know if most people know my plan of updating and finishing up the story by July 16.  I just wanted to get the whole story up before the next book is out.  I haven't been working on any other works.  I have to devote my energies to work and to my own original stories.

Deconstruction Chapter Five [May. 3rd, 2005|07:41 pm]
[Current Mood | tired]

It's up and ready for you to read.  Some people are liking the story because a bunch of the side characters are taking centerstage for it.  It's odd because I tend to take the side characters and develop them more.  This is the first story that I've done where most of the primary is side characters.  The mystery is how Percy ended up in the asylum and what happened to Penny.  Tonks is the central investigator.  The story isn't over yet.  It's just getting started.  It's one of my shorter works, yet it remains as my favorite out of my works.  I spent a good amount of time reading even though I'm working.  I read two mysteries and currently I'm just reading one of those light hearted novels.  The next book I plan on reading is a classic.  After that I'll read another piece of children's lit.  I read a whole gambit of works.  Each one has something that I like.  I plan on reading a lot of books this year as part of my thing of staying in touch with who I really am.

Work is sort of a surreal experience.  One sociologist said that people play roles all the time.  The only time that a person is truly his or her self is when he or she is alone.  I go to work and while I'm there, I take on the persona of a bungling, klutzy and very inarticulate person.  I'm shaky and unsure of myself and it still hasn't cleared up, even after about a month of work.  It's difficult to adjust from a world of words to a world of numbers, when words are so much easier to me.  I find that I can't express myself nearly as well as I do here or anywhere else for that matter.  Time is also passing more quickly than I realize as I spend most of my hours at work, wondering if there will be enough to keep me occupied.

The more I think of it, the more I think of ways to escape, but then the pull of responsibility and worldly wants comes back to me.
